Leading an experimental life as a digital nomad, I started traveling in 2007 while choosing to shuttle between Goa and Mumbai as 'home'. An epic life-changing trip to South America an year later gave birth to this blog, Exotic Gringo.
3 weeks agoby exoticgringoHumbled, honored, excited (and a tad nervous) to be speaking here tomorrow! Unplugged is a new unconference-type format by #TEDxGateway with multiple talks happening simultaneously at one venue. Do drop by if you're free in Mumbai tomorrow, at @ismemumbai for a day of learning, unlearning, inspiration and exchange of ideas. I'm going to be speaking about "How #SlowTravel can be rewarding, sustainable and purposeful at the same!" Do leave comments or questions for me if you'd like me to address them before / during or after the talk! Hope to see you there tomorrow Register to attend: tedxgateway.com/unplugged #travel#travelblogger
7 days agoby exoticgringoTravel bloggers aren't always the smartest travellers! ♂️ This is a #throwback to when I booked a flight from Rovaniemi to Helsinki for a WRONG DATE because I booked it in a hurry, forgetting that Europe follows the MM/DD/YY format unlike our DD/MM/YY format for the calendar. But despite wasting the flight ticket, the fun part was that i landed up taking the train, which had this plush cabin + making a local friend on the train + a great guy in Helsinki accepted my last minute @Couchsurfing request to host me in his house, since I had to make
4 weeks agoby exoticgringoHurray and kudos, #Jordan for ranking No.6 on the list of Lonely Planet's Top Countries to Visit in 2019! I couldn't be happier and excited about one of my favorite destinations making it to this list, since I genuinely feel that it is underrated and offers a ton of amazing experiences for its size. From floating in the Dead Sea to hot air balloon rides over Wadi Rum's Mars-like landscapes to one of the New 7 Wonders of the World - Petra and the bustling markets of Amman (secretly my favorite) ... Jordan has something for everyone Can't wait to
3 weeks agoby exoticgringoI'm laughing at my stupidity in hindsight, but even smiling for this picture when it was taken was a difficult task because I forgot to carry chapstick... Assuming that "hey, #Jordan is going to be a desert that'll be scorching hot by day and chilly by night". Right? Partially right. What I didn't factor is that most of the country is also very dry, so moisturizing the skin is a must! Now you know. Sunscreen and chapstick. Always a good idea! Are you headed to the No.6 'Top Countries to Visit in 2019' according to @LonelyPlanet ? Ping me if you
3 days agoby exoticgringoSee you soon, Thailand! This was 3 years ago, before my knee injury when I thought I was at my worst fitness level ever. I was planning to get back to #boxing , which is my favorite activity (not as a sport, but for the rigorous training which I loved!). Now that I'm healing and health is no longer an issue, it's time to change gears and rev up... Slowly but surely! Looking forward to spending an entire month in Thailand across Bangkok (favorite Asian city), Chiang Mai, Pai and possibly more. ♂️ This time I'll be looking at swimming instead
4 weeks agoby exoticgringoWhat? 10 years already?! They say travel leaves you speechless, and then turns into a storyteller. As clichéd as it sounds, I couldn't agree more! Even after ten years of that epic, life changing trip to South America where I stayed back for 5 months instead of the original 40 days, I'm still not done telling stories. Last night I shared a few at the @theteepeeculture where I was invited by the lovely folks at @letsgetlost .moments and today Facebook throws up these memories again (Location: Oswaldo Cruz, Rio De Janeiro) Ironically Facebook wasn't that big back in 2008 and I
