E-Line Embarcadero – the BEST way to explore San Francisco

My recent visit to the US was for the Google IO Conference in Mountain View California, so i was staying in the Bay Area – but after the event, i was really looking forward to exploring San Francisco on my own this time (the previous time, i did some stupid drunken crunches in Vegas resulting in a stiff back that spoiled my SF plans. don’t ever do something this silly!)

Setting out to explore from the Bay Area, i boarded the CalTrain from Mountain View Station and got down in downtown SF at 4th & King St. in exactly 50 minutes – a delightful journey that takes you through the heart of Silicon Valley.

Once i reached SF, i just boarded the first bus that came along (after asking if it did go to Fishermen’s Wharf). After a fun evening spent at Pier 39, i asked the cop on duty for the best way to get back to the CalTrain station and he suggested that i take the new E-Line. This is where it gets interesting…

The E-Line Embarcadero launched just that month, and is one of two historic streetcar lines in San Francisco using actual historic vehicles of different eras! Adding to this is the fact that it meanders alongside the Embarcadero – the most iconic seafront of San Francisco, all the way from the CalTrain station to Fishermen’s Wharf (and back).

So the next time you’re headed to SF, look out for the E-Line and spent an entire day exploring the beautiful seafront with possibly one pitstop at Ferry Terminal. It’ll definitely be a day well spent – my personal guarantee!
